In November of 2004, I was beginning to work on a series of paintings around The Days of Noah. At first I worked vertically on this oil which is large --30 x 40-- and thought the Ark would be coming down the wave. But it just would not work that way as a design or concept, and I fnally turned it horizontally. Painting in a simple horizon, and keeping the same translucent colours, seemed to work well. The BUZZ, our local island entertainment paper, sent Ivy Wigmore to do an interview about the project which had received a grant from the Council of the Arts, and was scheduled to begin as an open studio, in March. When the December issue came out with the image of this painting at the top, it was noticed generally especially after the southeast Asian great Tsunami which rolled in on the islands as a dirty grey flood of death and destruction. This was God's Tsunami of blessing now appearing.
